Long term

• Check your flood risk on the BeFloodReady website (visit the BeFloodReady website)
• Check you have bookmarked BeFloodWarned so you can easily check forecasts and alerts in the future (visit BeFloodWarned)
• Check that your insurance covers flooding (read the GOV.UK guidance on flood insurance)
• Create your household, business, and community emergency plans and keep them up to date (view the household flood plan, view the business flood plan, view the community flood plan)
• If you or a family member are vulnerable, check if you can join the Priority Services Register (visit the Priority Services Register)
• Put together an emergency kit and check it regularly
• Have a ‘Go Bag’ list that you can use to check off essential items if you ever need to evacuate
• Check you know how to turn off the gas, electricity and water supplies
• Check if PFR measures are suitable for your property. Make sure you know how to maintain and deploy any that are installed (learn about property flood resilience measures)

Medium term

• Check for any blocked drains and report to your local council
• Check emergency plans to make sure they are still accurate; make sure everyone knows where their plan is, and knows what to do

Short term

• Check for live weather forecasts and flood alerts
